The Golden Girls is an American sitcom that aired from 1985 to 1992. The show features four older women, namely Blanche, Rose, Dorothy, and Sophia, who live together in a house in Miami. Each of them has a unique personality that makes the show fun and exciting to watch. Blanche is the flirtatious Southern Belle, Rose is the sweet and naive Scandinavian, Dorothy is the sarcastic and witty divorcee, and Sophia is the feisty and sassy mother of Dorothy.

The Golden Girls have been popular for decades, and their fan base continues to grow. The show was groundbreaking for its time, featuring four older women as the lead characters. The Golden Girls Cafe in Chicago is a pop-up restaurant that pays tribute to the show. The restaurant features decor inspired by the show, such as the iconic palm tree wallpaper and wicker furniture. The menu includes dishes named after the characters, such as Blanche’s Big Salad and Sophia’s Lasagna. We enjoyed Lasagna, Bacon Lettuce Potato Sandwich, and a Rusty Anchor Omelet Sandwich.

 

The restaurant’s decor is a perfect mix of vintage and modern elements that will make you feel like you are sitting in the living room with the Golden Girls. The walls are adorned with brightly colored art pieces that feature the main characters, their catchphrases, and memorable moments from the show. The furniture is also an eclectic mix of styles, with velvet sofas, patterned chairs, and a bar that looks like it was taken straight out of the show. Even the lighting fixtures add to the ambiance, with retro lamps and colorful neon signs.

We really enjoyed ourselves, but I am not sure if it was the atmosphere of the restaurant or if it was just getting together with a group of great friends to share the experience with. Either way, we were glad we did it and look forward to the next adventure together.
