400 Miles of Scenic Adventures

Welcome to my journey along Pennsylvania’s Route 6, nearly 400 miles of small towns, mountain scenery, historic landmarks, state parks, roadside discoveries and hidden pieces of Pennsylvania history stretching from the Ohio state line to the New York state line.

U.S. Route 6 is actually part of a much larger historic transcontinental highway, but for this adventure, I’m slowing down and concentrating on the Pennsylvania section—following the “Do 6” mile markers from west to east and discovering what makes each stop worth exploring.

This page will be your guide to the journey. As I travel Route 6, I’ll be adding the towns I visit, places to eat and stay, historic sites, waterfalls, covered bridges, museums, roadside attractions and those unexpected places that make a road trip memorable.

You don’t have to drive all 400 miles at once. Pick a town for a day trip, combine several stops for a weekend getaway, or follow along and plan your own Route 6 adventure across Pennsylvania.
